Vision
Maamwesying means “the act of working as one” in Ojibway. The vision of our agency is Maamwesying kina gweyahn N’minobimaadizing which means “Working as One for the Wellbeing of All”.
Mission
Working with our community partners to provide accessible, quality, culturally safe, and wholistic health care that supports and enhances the wellness of individuals, families, and communities.
Our Population
Ontario Health Teams are not defined by their geography and the model is not a geographical one. Ontario residents are not attributed based on where they live, but rather on how they access care, which is important to ensure current patient-provider partnerships are maintained.
The Maamwesying Ontario Health Team’s attributed population includes Indigenous People and residents of the following communities: Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, Sagamok Anishnawbek, Serpent River First Nation, Mississauga First Nation, Thessalon First Nation, Garden River First Nation, Batchewana First Nation, Michipicoten First Nation, Chapleau Cree First Nation, Chapleau Ojibwe First Nation, and Brunswick House First Nation. Community members who reside in rural towns within close proximity to these communities are included in the OHT population. Additionally, the Urban Indigenous population of Sault Ste. Marie who access care through the Indigenous Friendship Centre or the Baawaating Family Health Team are included in the attributed population of the Maamwesying Ontario Health Team.
