History

The Maamwesying Ontario Health Team honours heritage while advancing innovative healthcare delivery throughout every stage of life.

Working towards advancements in quality healthcare

Rooted in the history and partnership between Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services Inc. and the seven member First Nation communities of the Mamaweswen North Shore Tribal Council, growing and strengthening for over 30 years, the Maamwesying Ontario Health Team has blossomed to support the continued advancement, accessibility and delivery of quality health care.

Working as One for the Wellbeing of All

Partner communities and organizations of the Maamwesying Ontario Health Team have long recognized the need for accessible, high-quality, culturally safe and wholistic health care; the announcement of Ontario Health Teams by the Government of Ontario in 2019 was recognized as the necessary next step to accomplishing our vision of Maamwesying kina gweyahn N’minobimaadizing, Working as One for the Wellbeing of All.

Our journey of pursuing designation as an Ontario Health Team began in 2019, and we reached a significant milestone in 2022 with the proud approval of the Ministry of Health and Ontario Health as Maamwesying Ontario Health Team.

As the Maamwesying Ontario Health Team, we are committed to building a more connected healthcare system that serves our local population’s needs from birth through their journey into the spirit world.
