This committee aims to align Digital Health and Information Management priorities within the membership. The committee discusses and implements Digital Initiatives to provide and improve care to communities and clients.
Project Background
Ontario’s healthcare system is undergoing a transformation aimed at providing seamless, integrated care to its residents. Central to this transformation is digital health, which serves as the backbone of a more connected healthcare system. The Maamwesying Ontario Health Team will play a pivotal role in driving local innovation and advancing digital health initiatives, ensuring that patients receive coordinated and efficient care.
Project Goals
- Address Ethical, Privacy, and Legal Concerns: Ensure that ethical issues, privacy, and legal requirements are thoroughly considered and integrated into digital health initiatives.
- Enhance Information Exchange: Tackle broad issues related to the digital exchange of information to improve connectivity and data sharing across healthcare systems.
- Prioritize Safety, Quality, and Consumer Choice: Ensure that safety, quality, and consumer choice remain central considerations when designing digital health solutions.
- Engage External Stakeholders: Actively engage with external stakeholders to collaborate and innovate on digital health solutions, fostering a community of shared goals and knowledge.
- Identify Future Directions: Explore and identify the future direction of digital health to ensure adaptability and forward-thinking strategies.
Accomplishments
- Streamlined communication between referrers and receiving organizations by eliminating the need for faxing and phone calls through the launch of Ocean eReferral.
- Onboarded Primary Care and Allied Health Professionals to use Ocean Online Appointment Booking, providing patients with more convenient options to book appointments
- Provided Privacy Officer training to Maamwesying Ontario Health Team Core Partners to ensure each has a Certified Health Privacy Officer to uphold privacy standards and compliance.
